UPDATE- Fire caused by golf club striking a rock at the Golf course, per OCFA investigators & witness statements. Fire has been contained as of September 7th 2016.
BREAKING NEWS – A wildland fire has started near Mission Viejo California. According to the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), the fire is currently at 20+ Acres. Multiple assets are being used to deal with this fluid situation.
No injuries and no current threats to property. The fire was within viewing distance of Saddleback College, and the Trabuco Canyon Golf course was the most at risk. We were able to capture some footage of the events and noticed several people observing the water tankers doing drops. The 140 Firefighters are composed of several wildland units and multiple air drop helicopters. We observed hand crews moving up the ridgeline towards an area that was near one of the greens for Trabuco Golf Course. CalFire aircraft were also observed, specifically twin turbine dropships.
Dry shrubbery and grasslands make for easily combustible fuel. The California drought along with an extremely dry summer have lead to events such as this. We will update this page as more information comes to us through OCFA_IPO and our various twitter resources.
